I’m excited to let you know that you can now order Did the Resurrection Really Happen? on Amazon. If you do, you should receive the book during the first week of March 2025.
If you’re interested in pre-ordering the book, click here.
This is a book I was excited to write, because it’s a resource I have wanted as a pastor: a brief apologetics text that defends the most essential truth of the Christian faith but that is also inexpensive enough for churches to give away. This project was made possible through the joint efforts of The Gospel Coalition, as part of their Hard Questions Series, and Crossway Books.
If you think you might be interested in giving away the books in bulk for Resurrection Day, contact the wonderful people at Crossway Books in March 2025 for prices.
In the meantime, feel free to take a look at the endorsements for the book. Scholars Tom Schreiner, Jarvis Williams, Gary Habermas, and Mark Allen joined with apologist J. Warner Wallace and pastors Jamaal Williams and Dayton Hartman to recommend the book. Many thanks to all of them!
Did the Resurrection Really Happen? Endorsements
“The Christian faith is more than a philosophy of life. It is rooted in concrete historical events. Timothy Paul Jones demonstrates that Jesus’s resurrection isn’t a myth but is grounded in history. The early Christians didn’t invent the bodily resurrection of Jesus to comfort themselves. They were confronted with the reality of the risen Christ. Jones’s book is a powerful reminder that Jesus is truly risen, and this changes everything about our lives today. A book for the young and the old. Indeed, a book for everyone.”
Thomas R. Schreiner, James Buchanan Harrison Professor of New Testament Interpretation, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
“Well written, fast-paced, and filled with popular stories and illustrations, this book takes up the challenging question of whether Jesus’s resurrection is a historical event. Follow Timothy Paul Jones as he treks through nagging doubts and uncertainty, one reasonable step at a time. If you are learning why the resurrection is true, this is the sort of book you want to read. Intellectual gems that hit the right points are placed on a shelf that most readers, from young adults on up, can grasp without straining. Before you know it, you have worked through a case for Jesus’s resurrection and have reasons for your faith! Highly recommended!”
Gary R. Habermas, Distinguished Research Professor and Chair, Department of Philosophy, Liberty University
“Timothy Paul Jones utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to provide a lucid, accessible, concise, and compelling case for the historical fact of the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. This book will serve as a conversation starter to help churches point people to Jesus Christ as the exalted and risen Lord!”
Jarvis J. Williams, Professor of New Testament Interpretation, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
“My question is, ‘Why wasn’t this book already written?’ We need it—a short treatise we can give to our congregants to strengthen their faith and improve their gospel witness. With up-to-date scholarship and engaging prose, Timothy Paul Jones provides a compact text we can share with our university and seminary students to show them how to defend the resurrection in a winsome way. Highly recommended.”
Mark Allen, Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies, Liberty University; coauthor, Apologetics at the Cross and The Augustine Way
“In Did the Resurrection Really Happen?, Timothy Paul Jones blends the heart of a pastor with the precision of a scholar to tackle one of the most vital questions of our faith. Sharing his own journey of how the resurrection stopped being a problem and started being a solution, Jones offers a relatable and compelling perspective. This book is a true gift, bringing to the church and skeptics alike a clear and convincing case for the resurrection.”
Jamaal Williams, Lead Pastor, Sojourn Midtown, Louisville, Kentucky; President, Harbor Network; coauthor, In Church as It Is in Heaven
“Christianity rises or falls on a single historical claim: the resurrection of Jesus. This short, powerful book makes the case for the pivotal moment in human history. If you’re curious about the unparalleled nature of Jesus, start your journey here.”
J. Warner Wallace, Dateline-featured cold-case detective; Senior Fellow, the Colson Center for Christian Worldview; Adjunct Professor of Apologetics, Talbot School of Theology, Biola University; author, Cold-Case Christianity and The Truth in True Crime
“The Christian faith is rooted in the historical resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Jones has written an accessible case for the resurrection of Jesus that is easy to read while carrying the weight of rigorous scholarship. This resource will prove valuable to both the skeptic and the believer wrestling with doubt.”
Dayton Hartman, Lead Pastor, Redeemer Church, Rocky Mount, North Carolina; coauthor, The Pastor as Apologist: Restoring Apologetics to the Local Church
