It’s a question that every Christian faces at some point.
What do I when someone else seems to be receiving all the good gifts that I need?
How should I respond when every blessing seems to pass me by?
How can I still trust that God is good when nothing happens the way I planned?
This struggle isn’t limited to contemporary Christians. It’s a dilemma that the characters in Scripture faced too—and I’m confident that God’s Word is sufficient to provide the wisdom we need even when God’s blessings seem to pass us by.
I had the privilege of exploring this struggle with the people I love at Sojourn Church Midtown this week through an exposition of a text about John the Baptist in Luke 7:18–35. On the way to God’s wisdom in this particular sermon, everything from Bluey to Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi makes an appearance.
